Key Takeaways

Full visibility of who’s got access to customer’s sensitive data and where.

Reliably recover from a data loss event or security incident.

Instantly achieve Essential Eight Maturity level 3.

Major data loss due to cyberattack is often disastrous for organisations. As cyber threats continue to increase, responsible business operations must rely on good data backup processes to maintain business continuity and reputation.

Canon Business Services ANZ (CBS) can help secure your data. We make data protection across all applications and data sets simple by ensuring your data protection works as expected. Remove the risk and get peace of mind knowing your data is safe, even if recovery becomes necessary.

We introduced the Rubrik Data Management platform to power our data protection services because, unlike traditional legacy backup and recovery solutions, it's built from the ground up with security in mind.

And now, CBS and Rubrik are partnering to deliver an affordable, comprehensive off-site backup and recovery solution that gives you complete visibility and control over your data with the added security of knowing your data is always safe and accessible.

“We help customers keep their data safe, a very topical service at the moment with all of the data breaches we’re experiencing in this country.”

Ian Morris, Rubrik ANZ Channel Director.

“And we're thrilled to work with an incredibly professional organisation like CBS that takes security seriously,” says Ian.

Built with data security in mind.

Rubrik’s software architecture is highly focused on security and building in elements like immutability (data can't be changed or modified in any way).

“Immutability is crucial because, when a ransomware attack comes, bad actors first encrypt or change your data. They lock it down, so you can’t access it unless you have a password or their decrypted key. Using Rubrik means bad actors can’t do this.”

Ian Morris, Rubrik ANZ Channel Director.

Rubrik has also built-in a raft of other security measures, from multifactor authentication to a logical air gap that makes your critical data undiscoverable on the network. A retention lock feature stops sophisticated hacking techniques, such as expiring your backups if the hackers find they can't encrypt or delete them (by changing the time clock from 2022 to 2032).

Our expert team is well-versed in delivering mailroom and TFN processing services—with a detailed transition plan for the ATO’s new mailroom ready to go live on September 1, 2022.

CBS’ Rubrik data management platform includes:

Logical Air Gap. Prevent access via standard network protocols
Encryption Everywhere. Prevent breach or disclosure of data-at-rest and data in-flight
Access Control at Every Level. Prevent unauthorised account compromise
Intelligent Data Lock. Prevent accidental or malicious mass deletion of data
Immutable by Design. Prevent unauthorised read, change, encryption, or deletion of data

Instantly achieve Essential Eight maturity level 3 with Rubrik & CBS.

Most businesses would be aware that the Australian Signals Directorate recently released ACSC’s Strategies to Mitigate Cyber Security Incidents as a baseline for best practice cybersecurity posture for Australian companies.

This baseline, known as the Essential Eight, makes it much harder for adversaries to compromise systems by recommending companies implement the ACSC’s 8 recommendations (from patching through to backup) and grade themselves from Maturity level), 1, 2, or 3—with 3 being the highest security available.

Implementing Rubrik automatically gives you maturity level 3. And Rubrik’s innovative security solution instantly means CBS can extend that same maturity level to our customers when it comes to backup and recovery.

“It’s not a matter of ‘if’ your data is compromised, it’s a matter of ‘when’ and how widespread the impact is,” explains Ricki Gavazis, CBS Head of Cloud & Infrastructure Services.

“When that cyber incident, attack, or loss of data occurs, the CBS Rubrik Data Management Platform means we can always help you recover rapidly, allowing you business to return to operation very quickly with minimal disruption.”

Taking security to a new level.

What if you could scan your entire environment, instantly see where your sensitive data is located, and, more importantly, who has access to it?

CBS and Rubrik are now developing this next-generation tool to add to their combined security arsenal.

“I like to think of it in terms of the Crown Jewels in the Tower of London,” Ian explains. “In a thousand years, they’ve never been stolen because everyone knows where they are, they’re heavily protected, and only three people have access to them—the reigning monarch, the Archbishop of Canterbury, and the Crown Jeweler.”

“Similarly, the only people who should have access to super-sensitive data are very, very privileged people—only your organisation’s reigning monarch, Archbishop of Canterbury, and Crown Jeweler. It shouldn’t be something that Bob from Accounts can export into an Excel spreadsheet and leave on a shared drive,” he adds.

Called Sensitive Data Discovery, Rubrik gives you full visibility of all the people with access to your super-sensitive data, allowing you to revoke access where necessary.

“When a security incident or data loss occurs, you need a robust, reliable Data Management platform that gets you back up and running fast,” Ricki says. “Rubrik gives you that extra insurance and peace of mind, knowing you can recover quickly whatever’s thrown at your system.”
